Sarah Doyle Poetry

I am a poet, short fiction writer, essayist, and poetry tutor. I hold the post of Poet-in-Residence to the Pre-Raphaelite Society, for whom I write commissioned new poetry and co-judge an annual poetry prize. My work has been published widely in a variety of high-quality journals, magazines, web-spaces, and anthologies; has won several competitions and placed in many more; has been illustrated, exhibited, broadcast on radio, and set to music. I have been a guest reader at numerous poetry events both in person and online, and previously co-curated and co-hosted Rhyme & Rhythm Jazz-Poetry Club at Enfield’s Dugdale Theatre, alongside Allen Ashley.

I hold a Creative Writing MA from Royal Holloway College, University of London, and am currently researching a PhD in the poetics of meteorology at Birmingham City University. My 2021 V. Press pamphlet, Something so wild and new in this feeling, inspired by Dorothy Wordsworth’s journals, emerged from my doctoral research. More information about my PhD and these poems is available here: https://www.bcu.ac.uk/research/our-phds/phd-blogs/phd-student-and-prize-winning-poet-discusses-new-poetry-collection

I am, with Allen Ashley, co-author of Dreaming Spheres: Poems of the Solar System, published in 2014 by World Fantasy Award-winning PS Publishing. I was co-editor (again, with Allen Ashley) of Humanagerie, an anthology of creaturely writing published by Eibonvale Press, shortlisted for a British Fantasy Award in 2019. More details of the book are available here: https://www.eibonvalepress.co.uk/books/books_humanagerie.htm

I undertake poetry critiques and creative writing workshops, and am happy to receive enquiries about these via the Contact page of this website.
